DERA GHAZI KHAN: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said on Monday that PPP-led government would keep moving forward with the mission of their martyred leader Benazir Bhutto to eliminate terrorism and transform Pakistan into a peaceful country.
Addressing an inaugration ceremony for sub campuses of Bahauddin Zakariya University and Allama Iqbal Open University, Khosa said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had the vision of promoting education to eliminate poverty and illiteracy and she believed that terrorism could be wiped out by virtue of development in the education sector.
Promotion of education was part of Benazir Bhutto’s manifesto, said Khosa.
He further added that he visited his hometown DG Khan soon after taking over as Governor to improve education facilities in under-developed and backward areas. – APP
DERA GHAZI KHAN: PM Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday said that PPP’s politics of reconciliation has been misunderstood as the party’s weakness.
While addressing an audience at the opening ceremony of a regional university, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that he did not want to speak against any leader or political party. He acknowledged that the country is suffering from unemployment, terrorism and lawlessness. He said that these issues cannot be addressed without education and knowledge.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also spoke about plans to establish an IT university in DG Khan and announced Rs.5 crore for various projects, including a girls’ hostel.
